Black Gold on DVD
Movie poster for Black GoldThis powerful film, set in Ethiopia, USA and Britain, is an investigation into, and indictment of, the global coffee trade and its effects on farmers’ lives. The film reveals the extent of the injustice the producers endure while the corporate coffee roasters reap huge profits. ‘Star’ of the film is Tadesse Meskela, whom many Fairtrade campaigners met in Cumbria in March 2005. His fight for a fairer price provides the film’s narrative.
